Sample Table - Laboratory Session with Saliva Collection

Screening Particpants will be given a short survey over the phone to verify qualifications to participate in the study and gather contact information. 10 minutes RAs - IRB Basic Risk to Privacy. Phone interviews will be conducted in private. Contact information will be stored in locked cabinet. Survey responses will be stored separate from contact information.
Obtaining Consent Participants will be given a consent form and any questions answered at the beginning of the first lab session. 10 minutes RAs - IRB Basic Participant will be asked basic comprehension questions about the study to ensure they understand the procedures and risks involved.
Lab Session 1 Participants will complete basic demographics and surveys. A heplock will be inserted for blood collection. Initial Blood draw to be taken. Participants will eat a breakfast sandwich. Blood draws will be taken once per hour for 6 hours. 6 hours PI - IRB Basic, Bloodborne Pathogen, Phlebotomy Course Completion Slight discomfort and pain upon insertion of heplock. Occaionally, swelling and redness could occur. Some participants may feel lightheaded. Risks will be controlled using experienced phlebotomist to help participants remain calm. All EHS guidelines will be followed. Procedures wil be discountinued immediately at participant request.
 Debriefing Participants will be provided additional information about the study procedures 5 minutes RAs - IRB Basic Participants are given follow-up information and contact information again for PI and IRB in case of adverse events or unexpected problems arise.

Obtaining Consent Participants will be given a consent form and any questions answered at the beginning of the first lab session. 10 minutes RA's - IRB Basic Participant will be asked basic comprehension questions about the study to ensure they understand the procedures and risk involved.
Lab Session 1 - Baseline Assessments Completion of demographic surveys, anthrompometric measurements, Bioelectrical Impedience (BIA), baseline ultrasound. 45 minutes PIs - IRB Basic, Bloodborne Pathogen No more than minimal risks. Participants will be familiarized with the lab and study procedures.
Testing Day 1 Each participant will complete the following: 1) shaving and abrading of the VL for electrode placement. 2) 5 minute warm-up on 1 hour

PIs - IRB Basic, Bloodborne Pathogen, Certified Personal Trainer/CSCS, first aid/cpr certification

RA's - IRB Basic, Bloodborne Pathogen, First Aid/CPR

Anticipated Risk include skin irritation from shaving and abrading; muscle strain and soreness, lightheadedness. Safeguards include warm up protocols and demonstration of procedures by researchers to participants.
Testing Day 2 Each participant will complete the following: 1) shaving and abrading of the VL for electrode placement. 2) 5 minute warm-up on a cycle ergometer with zero resistance at a self-selected pace from 50-75 rpm. 3) Baseline assessment of strength performance. 4) begin fatigue protocol. What are the sets, reps, rest periods? 5) Post fatigue, what is the rest periods between assessments? 1 hour
